Jim Prell gives talk at Pittcon 2019
Dr. Prell gave a talk about the group’s work with Fourier/Gabor Transform and toxin proteins at this year’s Pittcon in Philadelphia (session Ion Mobility-Mass Spectrometry: The Next Revolution).
Jesse Wilson and Amber Rolland deliver talks at Lake Arrowhead Ion Chemistry Conference
Prell Group 5th-year Jesse Wilson and 3rd-year Amber Rolland recently gave talks at the Lake Arrowhead Ion Chemistry Conference in Lake Arrowhead, CA, in January. Jesse spoke about his work with toxin proteins, and Amber reported on her work with molecular dynamics simulations. The conference was a ton of fun, as always, and included a keynote speech by Pacific Northwest National Labs scientist Dick Smith.
Sam Shepherd and Michael Leroy start rotations
UO Chemistry PhD first-years Sam Shepherd and Michael Leroy are rotating in the Prell Group for the winter 2019 term. Welcome, Sam and Leroy!
iFAMS Fourier deconvolution software now available on Github!
Good news! iFAMS (interactive Fourier-Transform Analysis for Mass Spectra) is now available on Github at https://github.com/seanpatcleary/ifams. We plan a major update in the near future with new features.
Come see us at ASMS 2018!
The Prell group will be presenting a couple talks and several posters at ASMS 2018:
Talks:
Tuesday FTMS Workshop: Demonstration of iFAMS deconvolution software for mass spectra of ions with repeated subunits–The latest version of iFAMS will be available for onsite download.
WOB: Native Ion Mobility-Mass Spectrometry and Computational Investigation of Surface-Induced Dissociation of Non-Specific Protein Heterodimer Ions
Posters:
MP: Determining Charge and Mass Information from Extremely Congested Mass Spectra of Large Biomolecular Complexes Using Fourier-Domain Harmonics
MP: Probing the Structural Changes of Biological Complexes with Internal Cavities After Transfer to the Gas-Phase Using Native IM-MS and MD
MP: Characterization of Compositional Heterogeneity in Intact Nanodisc Ions Containing Two Different Types of Lipids using Fourier-Transformed Native Mass Spectra
ASMS Research Award
The Prell Group wishes to express its gratitude to the American Society for Mass Spectrometry and Waters Corporation for receiving the 2018 ASMS Research Award and for their support of our efforts. It is a great honor!
Isabella Young wins SACNAS Pchem Poster Award!
New Prell Group members
1st-year graduate rotation student Marlee Fruto and undergraduates Daniel Ko and Ashley Sercia have joined the Prell Group. Welcome!
Jim Prell presents talk at SCIX Conference in Reno
Last week, Prof. Prell presented a talk on the Prell Group’s Nanodisc research at the symposium in honor of Prof. Jenny Brodbelt (UT Austin) at the SCIX Conference in Reno, NV, for her innovation in mass spectrometry and her leadership and service work.
